2015 Estate Syrah
Planted in 1997, the Longshot Estate Vineyard here at Edgefield has traditionally been used to make Edgefield Distillery’s Longshot Brandy. In 2015, however, the warm growing season yielded perfect conditions for making a cool climate Syrah. We jumped at the chance and hand harvested the grapes, then fermented them 100% whole cluster with gentle maceration through traditional pigeage (foot treading!). The resulting wine is medium bodied, with notes of raspberry, dark chocolate and spice.
