2018 Cuvée de L'Abri Rouge
Our Red Shed Blend (pronounced ‘coo-VAY day la Bree Rooj’) is inspired by the great blended red wines of the Southern Rhône region of France. The lush fruit and soft, silky tannins make this wine approachable now and will continue to develop over the next few years. Brilliant garnet in color, this medium-bodied wine is full of juicy blackberry and cherry notes with undertones of leather and spice. The soft entry, silky tannins, and reserved extraction make this an easy wine to enjoy, even in its youth. The wine was aged in neutral oak barrels, allowing the fruit to shine.
The vineyards associated with our Cuvee blend are warmer vineyard sites in the greater Yakima valley, primarily coming from Alder Ridge Vineyard, Lonesome Spring, Sugarloaf, and Chukar Ridge. This year in addition to the Mouvedre from Sugarloaf we are also harvesting young vine Grenache. These first year bearing vines gave loads of forward candy like fruit flavors, which have added more fruit character to this year’s blend.
Food Pairing Notes
This versatile wine is as well matched to a burger as it is to steak. Dishes that feature spices such as allspice, cinnamon, and cloves are particularly well suited pairings.
