This assertive wine has dark cherry fruit and sweet oak on the nose, upon entry cheery notes give way to black currant vanilla and black pepper. Tannins upfront linger to a long lasting finish of toasted oak, strawberry and cassis.
Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
We began sourcing fruit from the Walla Walla Valley in 2015, annually expanding our presence in both the Summit View and Pepper Bridge vineyards. Pepper Bridge sits on the Washington side of the valley floor and is known for big opulent wines and full fruit characteristics. Summit View Vineyard, in Milton-Freewater, benefits from higher elevation, also gives many of same lush attributes. Both sites have a chalky firmness and abundant tannins in their wines.
Production Notes
In this bottle, we have balanced the opulent fruit with a firm oak presence, by aging the wine in a combination of French Oak (80% of the blend, 20% new, 25% Second fill) and American oak (20% of the blend, 4% New, 4% Second fill).
Food Pairing Notes
Braised lamb, Grilled steak, cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms, are all a good place to start.
